Hello! This is Dr. Cho Young-min.
November has arrived.
Now that I'm in my 40s, I truly feel how fast time flies..
It makes me resolve not to waste even a single day.
In the homes of everyone reading this post,
May comfort be with you :)
The device I'll introduce today is known as #PpasyaLifting,
It's #REVINAS

The German company Weyergans is famous for anti-aging devices such as Vacumed.
I really like the phrase "future health" written on the device.
All the devices we use here at ANZ
It consists only of treatments that both Dr. Kwon and I would want to receive ourselves.
I truly believe it makes no sense to recommend to our patients something that I wouldn't do on my own face.
newly arrived at ANZ Dermatology, which regards the 'restoration of aging' as the core of anti-aging treatment,
In charge of restoration: #REVINAS
Let's go through its features one by one.
As our face ages, deformation occurs in certain areas.
For example, when wrinkles form on the forehead, which creases repeatedly,
At some point, permanent deformation sets in, and the area can no longer be smoothed out even with Botox.

Of the four layers that make up our face—bone, muscle, fat, and skin—this deformation
This is a change caused by deformation of the skin layer.
However, deformation caused by aging occurs not only in the skin layer but in all 4 layers.
Tissue can become deformed through simple aging, but
Due to repetitive muscle movement,
Areas that experience frequent friction deform even more easily.
This kind of deformation is often compared to a bed mattress.

If you use a bed for a long time, some of the mattress springs may collapse and fail to recover.
Our faces undergo the same kind of deformation.
The main cause is aging, but besides aging, any act involving a scalpel, such as plastic surgery,
if events that cause a lot of tissue damage due to unrefined procedures are repeated and accumulate,
permanent deformation occurs.
In a state where such deformation exists,
What would the results be if procedures such as Ulthera, Titanium, or thread lifting were performed?
Naturally, this leads to unsatisfactory results.
Since the deformation appears in the form of adhesions and scar tissue, the tissue loses its softness, and
Naturally, lifting cannot work well.
For such people, restoring the deformation with REVINAS should come first.

If we restore the tissue first and then do the lifting,
the effect and its duration become much longer :)
What's more, simply restoring the tissue loosens hard tissue, and
that lifting happens on its own is truly appealing.
Unlike existing treatments such as Ulthera, Thermage, and Titanium, REVINAS does not work by applying heat to the tissue.
Shock waves (extracorporeal shock wave therapy) are delivered to all tissues except bone, and
There is practically no pain.

RF (Thermage) acts on the skin layer,
HIFU (Ulthera) reaches up to the fascia,
Shock waves (REVINAS) cover the muscle and deep fascia, up to just above the bone.
Shock waves have actually been used in other specialties for a long time, and
In orthopedics, it's used almost like a cure-all, you know :)
You can think of it as shock waves, which can break even stones when used strongly, with their intensity adjusted and applied to aesthetic treatment.

(I learned this time that it had been used to treat erectile dysfunction...)

There is a physical principle behind it, but it is far too difficult a topic, so I'll skip it.
glycotoxins (AGEs) accumulated in the dermis, aging cells that remain without being properly cleared out,
As waste products such as inflammatory substances are cleared away, the dermal environment becomes clean.

Besides the cleaning role described above, the core of REVINAS!
Because it softens tissue that has clumped together,
It can also be used for the treatment of hard scar tissue.
In a paper from Iran that treated burn scars with extracorporeal shock waves,

I've included photos from before treatment, and at 6 weeks, 1 month, and 3 months after treatment.
You can see with your own eyes that the tissue becomes softer and its condition improves.
Not only burn scars, but
According to a paper published in 2022 that also used it on hypertrophic scars,

As expected, even at a glance you can see that it has become softer and the redness has improved considerably.
I think it could also be a good option for scar treatment.
Even scar tissue becomes that soft, so
It naturally works even better on tissue affected by aging.
REVINAS can also be used for cellulite improvement.
Cellulite can occur as the fat cells themselves enlarge, but
microcirculation worsens due to pressure from the enlarged fat cells, and
These are results that appear as connective tissue fibrosis occurs and aged cells and waste products accumulate.
There is a paper in which this kind of cellulite was treated with extracorporeal shock wave therapy.
The paper states that exercise was done alongside it, so it is not a standalone treatment, but
I'm sure you all know that exercise alone can hardly improve even skin texture as shown below.

It is used for cellulite treatment like this, and
Another paper stated that it also helps break down fat.
If the intensity is set well, it can be used to reduce fat, but it doesn't seem suitable for the face :)
As we age, the function of the fascia and muscles gradually declines.
By using extracorporeal shock waves to treat even the muscle and deep fascia that conventional Ulthera/Thermage could not target,
A firm structure is built up starting from the lower layers (muscle/fascia).

In addition,

It has a variety of advantages like these.
Microcirculation promotion / Growth factor release / Stem cell stimulation / Tissue cell strengthening and regeneration
Since it seemed to have nothing but advantages,
I was curious about the downsides and side effects, so I researched them diligently, but
No side effects have been reported so far, but
If you have ever received dental treatment, including implants,
After 3 months of treatment
it has been found that extracorporeal shock wave therapy is possible.
Of course, when it is applied to the body, it has nothing to do with dental treatment.
So today, we learned about REVINAS :)
I started writing this post on my way to work in the morning, but..
Between treatments here and there, it's already closing time T_T
I hope this was very helpful :)
I hear that a famous actress whom everyone knows absolutely loves this treatment.
and also with ANZ's anti-aging philosophy, which believes that aging is something to be restored,
it seems to be a good device that matches up.
I'll be back next time with another interesting topic.
