Both are devices that use ultrasound. They are commonly called HIFU, and the ultrasound is not simply fired off, but
It is a method of focusing at high intensity to target only a specific layer.
The main target for lifting is the fascia, and when irradiating the septa of the fat,
It can also deliver tightening and fat-reduction effects, so it can be used in many different ways.
Ulthera is the original device, while Shurink is a domestic Korean device and a copy of Ulthera.
There are many devices besides Shurink, but since Shurink is the most widely used, I made the comparison with it.
Rather than a difference, it is actually a feature that only Ulthera has.
Ulthera emits two types of ultrasound.
One is, like Shurink, an ultrasound for delivering energy to the target layer, and
The other is the ultrasound for visualization that lets you view the skin layers in real time.
As far as I know, the patent has not yet expired, and this is the biggest reason Ulthera holds a unique position.
Put differently, Ulthera vs Shurink is
Shooting While Watching vs. Shooting Blind
I think that is how I can put it.
Why is this a problem? You might think, "Can't an experienced doctor just look and get it right?"
Even I, who have performed Ulthera on thousands of people, often find my expectations proven wrong when I look at the ultrasound monitor.
You might think, "He's a rugged, bandit-type man, so his fascia must be deep!", but sometimes it is actually the fascia of a young girl,
You might think, "She's a slender woman, so her fascia must be shallow!", but in reality there are cases where even the deepest setting of 4.5 mm is barely enough.
It means it cannot be predicted. So you absolutely must look inside.
Even on the same person's face, the depth of the fascia differs depending on the area.
I took the reference photos myself for this article..

This is the Ulthera ultrasound monitor.
The photo on the left was taken near one person's left jawline, and the photo on the right was taken about 1 cm higher.
In the photo on the left, the thick white line seen at a depth of 3.0 is the fascia, and
In the photo on the right, the fascia has dropped down to a depth of 4.5.
It's a bit difficult, isn't it? To sum it up,
The depth of the fascia differs from person to person and from area to area, so
if you shoot without looking, you cannot reach the correct layer
.
Example 1) Suppose there is a person whose fascia sits at 3.0 across the entire face, as in the photo on the left.
Shurink at 4.5, 600 shots -> no effect. Some deep fat is lost, which accelerates aging (the worst-case scenario)
Shurink at 3.0, 600 shots -> luck was on your side. Effective.
Shurink half at 4.5 / half at 3.0 -> only the effect of 300 Shurink shots. High chance of no effect
Example 2) Suppose there is a person whose fascia sits at 4.5 across the entire face, as in the person on the right.
Shurink at 4.5, 600 shots -> effective.
Shurink at 3.0, 600 shots -> does not affect the fascia. Weaker lifting effect
Shurink half at 4.5 / half at 3.0 -> 300 shots on the fascia + 300 shots on the fat
Example 3) Actually, that is one person's face. Suppose that, anatomically, the fascia depth is half 3.0 and half 4.5.
Shurink at 4.5, 600 shots -> effect of 300 shots landing on the fascia + increased chance of accelerated aging
Shurink at 3.0, 600 shots -> effect of 300 shots landing on the fascia + 300 shots into the fat
Shurink half at 4.5 / half at 3.0 -> if each half lands on the fascia as in the picture, a 600-shot effect, but if they land the other way around, the worst..
(With Ulthera, you can place each half on the fascia exactly as in the picture)
This is what happens.
But with Ulthera you shoot while watching, so every shot can land right on target (of course, you have to watch the monitor carefully, right?)
Shurink gives results randomly, or
cases with no effect will occur.
That is why people say that one Ulthera session is better than several Shurink sessions..
In fact, I agree as well.
Moreover, I wrote this article on the condition that the output of the two devices is identical,
I also wonder whether the output of a device made by a different company is really the same.
Some of a person's fascia is inborn, but it also changes with weight changes,
and it differs depending on the anatomical location, so it naturally has to be checked during the treatment.
Also, there are locations where you must not fire at 4.5. This is the same for both Ulthera and Shurink.
I am afraid of accelerating someone's aging..
I do not perform blind treatments like Shurink.
Even so, those who fire Shurink away with a lion's heart,
I'm somewhat doubtful that they would perform the treatment while even considering the areas where firing at 4.5 is not allowed..
