Tiresome acne. How long will I keep getting it? At my age, why am I still getting acne?
Anyone who has struggled with acne has probably had this thought at least once.
You have probably received treatment and care at several dermatology clinics, but you could not get a satisfying answer from any clinic or any doctor.
That is only natural, because the causes of acne are extremely varied and are also related to each person's lifestyle habits and genetics.
However, even people who say they have been to dermatologists often do not know about, or overlook, the most important thing in acne treatment. Treatment? Erbium shouldering? Dot Peel (TCA)? Peeling? Fraxel? Toning? Vascular laser? AHA/BHA peeling? Extraction? Needle RF?
These are also very important treatments, but there is something even more important....!!!
It is precisely this..
What is it, you ask..
It means continuing treatment while <maintaining a state in which no new acne appears>.
The treatments listed above are merely aftercare: how to put out the fire and how to clear away the soot. If you do not maintain a state in which the fire (acne) does not break out in the first place, recovery and treatment take longer, and you end up with an undesirable outcome in which you invest a great deal of money and time.
I titled this post that way partly to draw attention; it is not that dermatologists actually don't want to tell you this, or that we drag out treatment to make money. It is only that the content is so very basic that I thought explanations might sometimes get left out, so I wrote it down myself.
Then how can you keep acne from appearing???
Unlike adolescent acne, when hormones are surging, adult acne has set causes, so all you need to do is identify the culprit.
A lot of sebum is produced
Sebum cannot escape
Dryness
Using cosmetics incorrectly
Most people (99%) fall into this category.
A lot of sebum is produced
The cause is mostly receiving a lot of stress and not sleeping well. If neither applies, it can be considered a genetic cause. Since a clinic cannot relieve stress, I mostly just listen to what you have to say.... As for sleep, going to bed by 11 is said to help reduce sebum secretion, but 11 is a stretch for busy modern people, so I tell patients to be sure to sleep by 12.
If you have no stress, you sleep well, and none of items 2, 3 and 4 apply, I recommend taking a sebum-control medication.
2. Sebum Cannot Escape
This applies to cases where the face is not cleansed well or where products that clog the pores are used. If cleansing is poor, an oil film will clog the pores, and using BB cream or overly thick, heavy products likewise blocks the pores and causes sebum to build up. I think everyone knows that sebum that cannot be discharged turns into acne.
3. Dryness
I think many people now know that dryness can also trigger acne. Even people with severely dry skin, such as those with atopic dermatitis, get acne, and there are theories that dead skin cells clog the pores and cause acne, or that the body secretes sebum vigorously to compensate for dryness, but as far as I know this has not yet been clearly established.
4. Using Cosmetics Incorrectly
This connects to the points above. There is acne caused by dryness because a suitable moisturizer was not used on very dry skin, and there is also acne caused by excess sebum from overuse of moisturizer. Finding a moisturizer that suits you will be each person's homework, so please understand the principle I have described and try it out accordingly. Moisturizing power is lotion < cream, so if your skin usually feels a bit dry, use a cream, and if it feels a bit oily, start with a lotion.
After correcting your lifestyle habits so that acne does not easily appear, you should then get treatment for acne scars such as pitted scars, pigmentation and red marks. That is the fastest way to improve while spending the least money ^^
I will write again about treatment later~
